1) Can Snowbirds be members?
Yes, absolutely.
2) Is this your full-time occupation?
Yes. As President and Founder, I'm very committed to building a community that creates social, business and educational opportunities for Canadian expats.
3) How is this different than Connect2Canada?
First, I want to say that the Canadian Embassy has done a great job in creating Canadian awareness in the U.S. I have high regard for the Consulates as well. CanSouth in Raleigh, could not have grown as much as it has without the support of the Raleigh Consulate.
I believe that CEN is unique with respect to:
- The Canadian Expat Social Network
- Discussion Forum
- Articles of Interest
- Access to Canadian Brands
- Monthly newsletters
- Educational Web casts (Coming soon)
- More to come...
The community will continue to evolve based on the feedback and the needs of it's members.
4) I see that the current membership offer is Free for 90 days. What happens after that?
My intention is to give people the opportunity to evaluate the community and see if it is a good fit for them, which I believe it will be. After that, there will be an annual membership fee of $25.
In a recent survey, 92% of respondents felt that $25 was fair. I feel the fee was affordable enough that students can sign up.
Every week, new Canadians will enter the U.S needing to make new social and business connections.Regional Canadian expat groups like yours play an important role in helping with that transition and it's understandable that a number of Canadian Expat Groups need to charge a nominal fee to help support their modest infrastructure costs. My intent is to help make people aware that these groups are in existence as well as add several other benefits. I know in Raleigh, that I continue to meet expats who are not aware of CanSouth.
