Barclays Names Ex-Ambassador Wilson Chairman for Canada

28 (Bloomberg) -- Barclays Capital, the investment- banking arm of Barclays
Plc, named former Canadian ambassador to the U.S. Michael Wilson and ex-RBC
Capital Markets Deputy Chairman Bruce Rothney to run its Canadian
operations.
Wilson will be chairman of Barclays
Capital Canada, while Rothney will be country head, the investment bank said
today in an e-mailed statement.
Wilson, 72, a former chairman of
UBS Canada and a former finance minister, was the Canadian ambassador from 2006
to 2009. Rothney joined Royal Bank of Canada in 1991. Both bankers will be based
in Toronto.
Barclays has operations in Toronto
and Calgary, and in December secured a banking license in Canada.
