Concordia Alum Champion of North American Campus Tours

If you have a question regarding North
American Universities, chances are Concordia Alum Steve Lake (Class of 70') may
know the answer. Lake has visited over 500 University campuses across North
America. Media Outlets such as Newsweek, USA Today, Maclean's and the Associated
Press have covered Lake's unique story.
This fascination began while
honeymooning in Boston back in 84'. Lake and his wife Carol visited the Ivy
League schools and developed an interest to visit other campuses. "The goal
started with 100 campuses, than 200, so why not 500," Lake states.
Lake incorporated his passion with
their vacations, which fit well, as Carol is a travel writer. "One week, I
visited 40 campuses in the Philadelphia area," Lake recalls. Those trips
would include the use of MapQuest and several calls to admission offices to set
up tours.
The 500th campus visit was at Our
Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio back in 2008. "Carol was with me for
about 130 of those visits", Lake shares.
In addition to campuses, Lake is an
avid baseball fan and former Montreal Expos fan, who has seen ball games at 47
different MLB Ballparks.
These days, Lake calls Vegas home
and is a Pit boss in the famed Caesar's Palace Casino. He comments that some of
his colleagues at Caesar's think he resembles a professor.
