Canadian Musician Jack Guppy's Olympic Memories

Where were you the night Canada dominated Russia in Olympic hockey? For Jack Guppy, drummer for Barney Bentall and The Legendary Hearts, he was performing at the Molson Hockey House entertaining fans before the big game.

Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts, hailing from Vancouver, had a lot of success in the 80's and 90's with hits such as "Come Back to Me", "Crime Against Love", "Do Ya"  and the rock anthem, "Something to Live For". "The evening was extraordinary," Guppy stated. Performing before the game, he commented that the place was really intense and spirited.

Guppy, also a painter in the Film industry, earlier performed at Whistler for the Olympic torch ceremony, as well as a private party for Canadian athletes and parents.

While the Canada vs. Russia game was amazing, Guppy will also remember the games for the torch opening in Whistler and the incredible energy that has filled the streets of Vancouver. "The collective energy has been amazing. Canada has shown a lot of pride. When the torch arrived in Whistler, I was no more than 3 feet away from the torch. I was surprised how emotional that moment was, as I felt myself tearing up," Guppy shared.

The Vancouver resident happens to pass by the Olympic cauldron early each morning on his way to work. "I love seeing it and when the games are over I think I'll miss it."  Guppy commented. I'm sure the rest of Vancouver would agree with you.
