The Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Wilson recently visited North Carolina to meet with high ranking officials and was the keynote speaker at a luncheon hosted by the World Affairs Council of Charlotte. At the luncheon held on April 9th, Ambassador Wilson discussed the current economic challenges faced by both Canada and the U.S. and how this current crisis can help strengthen the U.S.-Canada relationship for the future.

The Canada-North Carolina relationship is very strong, as Canada is the number one trading partner and ranked fourth in terms of foreign investment. This relationship was empahisized by the 200,000 jobs that have been created in support of that trade relationship. The $4.3 billion being both imported and exported between Canada and North Carolina annually works out to roughly $1 million of trade per hour.

Dana Hicks, Honorary Canadian Consul of Charlotte, commented that the luncheon was attended by 115 people and very well received.
