Canadian Group Profile: CanDiego

Sean Mitton, Canadian Expat Network
Printer-Friendly Format

When Teena Singh moved to San Diego from San Francisco, one of the first things she did was to Google and see if there was a Canadian group in the area. Sure enough, she found CanDiego, an organization of Canadians living in the San Diego region. Today, Teena helps lead that group and considers many of the people that she has met friends.

   Teena Singh

Being involved in the Canadian Expat community is not new to Teena, as she's been involved as a Social Coordinator at another Canadian group called the Digital Moose Lounge, located in San Francisco. Teena took on a leadership role with CanDiego after meeting with Group founder Thor Berggren who started CanDiego less than 4 years ago and has since moved back to Vancouver.

CanDiego has approximately 2,000 people in the organization and has had events that include Canada Day and addressed topics such as Immigration, Tax Planning and Health care. Pub events are held every other month and often include watching hockey games. Group members seem to have a strong presence in employment areas such as IT and Biotech with several working at Wireless company Qualcomm.

Like many Canadians, Teena has lived in several cities across Canada. While growing up in Alberta, she's also lived in Kingston and Vancouver, as well as traveling on business to places such as New Brunswick and the Yukon.

"CanDiego has a great group of people and being a leader has been a wonderful experience", Teena states.
