Every three years, Tall Ships sail into Chicago for a weekend of activities and sails.  This year, the Canadian ship Pathfinder will be participating.  The 72 foot Brigantine was designed specifically for youth sail training on the Great Lakes conducted by Tall Ship Adventures. Since 1964, over 15,000 students have lived and worked aboard Pathfinder and her sister ship Playfair. Youth between the ages of 13 and 18 become the working crew on one or two week adventures. The captain is the only adult on board. Every year, Pathfinder sails 4,000 miles, about 40 nights at sea, and introduces 300 trainees to the tall ship experience.

In addition to the ship, the Consulate General of Canada in Chicago will be presenting "1812: One War, Four Perspectives", an exhibition exploring the different sides of the War of 1812.
