Canadian Forces Snowbirds to be Inaugural Headliners at Wings Over North Georgia Air Show
The inaugural Wings Over North Georgia
Air Show will be held at the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport in Rome,
Georgia September 28 -- 30, 2012. Air show officials announced that they have
secured the Canadian Forces Snowbirds Demonstration team to headline what will
be a phenomenal lineup of military demonstrations, civilian performers, unique
ground displays and kid-friendly/family-friendly attractions.
Flying their nine distinctive red
and white CT-114 Tutors, the Snowbirds serve as Canadian Forces ambassadors and
demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, excellence, discipline and dedication.
The Snowbirds are internationally known for their awe-inspiring precision
aerobatics consisting of more than 50 different formations and maneuvers. The
Snowbirds are one of only three military jet teams from North America and the
team makes very few appearances each year in the United States.
In addition to the Snowbirds and
other aviation attractions that will be the centerpiece of the 2012 Wings Over
North Georgia Air Show, the show will also host the Smoke'nThunder Barbeque
Classic and Auto Show™ on the air show grounds during the show weekend. The
Smoke'nThunder Barbeque Classic will be a Kansas City Barbeque Society
(KSBS)-sanctioned event that will attract professional and amateur barbeque
competitors from across the country. The competition will host more than 100
competition team booths onsite and award a total purse prize of $18,750. The
Smoke'nThunder Auto Show is expected to draw more than 500 show cars from
throughout the Southeastern U.S. that will compete for a total purse prize of
$6,000.

international jet team like the Snowbirds in our first year really says
something about what the air show industry expects from this new show. The
Snowbirds are just the start. We are going to have some additional exciting news
in the very near future."
The Snowbirds will headline what
will be a sensational lineup of the top air show acts on the circuit. In
addition to the Snowbirds, top-tier civilian and military performers, classic
warbirds, as well as a full slate of static displays and kid-friendly
