The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration
Service (USCIS) provided a 'cap count' for its Fiscal Year 2013 H-1B
numbers. These are new H1B applications filed on or after April 1, 2012
for a start date of October 1, 2012.
The H-1B cap is set at 65,000 and
the Advanced Degree cap is set at 20,000.
As of June 1, 2012, the Service had
received:
Regular H-1B Cap: 55,600
U.S. Masters H-1B Cap: 18,700
If you subtract the H-1B numbers
allocated for Singapore and Chile, the cap number is approximately 58,000 for
regular cap cases. This means the regular H-1B cap will likely be
exhausted within a few days.
If you're going to file an H-1B
case for a foreign professional worker, make sure to get it filed as soon as
possible!
