I didn't know that....

The other day I was talking with a friend about movies and Mike Myers name came up. Being a proud Canadian I mentioned that Mike is originally from Canada. Generally when that happens, I get the response "I didn't know that". At that point, I go through a partial list of other famous Canadians that may include Alan Thicke, Alanis Morissette, and Pamela Anderson. I'm sure you've encountered this as well.

Living in the U.S. I've encountered a lot of great Canadian stories abroad that most people including Canadians didn't know about. These could include stories about professors, entrepreneurs, artists or anyone else who's left Canada. One of my personal favourites that I'll write about later is Allan Simpson. Allan founded Baseball America, considered the Baseball bible over 25 years ago and currently resides in Durham, NC. People are always amazed when I share his story.

You probably know similar stories that others would like to hear about. When you hear a good Canadian story which makes you say "I didn't know that", let us know and we'll be pleased to share with others.
