REDONDO BEACH, CA (February, 2012) -- The Redondo Beach Cafe is proud to announce that on March 8th, 2012 it will be holding a celebration in honor of Anthony Calvillo's accomplishments. Anthony, family, friends & local fans will be present for the celebration that will commence at 7:30 pm.

Anthony is a Southern California native who currently plays professional football with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

This past season Anthony became the All Time leading passer in the history of professional football. This accomplishment as well as his personal history (both he and his wife are cancer survivors) generated widespread media coverage in Canada & Internationally. The NY Times, LA Times & USA Today all covered his story. Bill Plaschke wrote a touching LA Times feature column & ESPN's Chris Berman's TV segment captured the significance of the record breaking achievement.

Anthony was born in East LA. He attended La Puente HS where he was a two sport standout in Football & Basketball. Anthony then went to Mt. SAC JC followed by Utah State where in his senior year, Anthony lead them to a Big West Championship & a Bowl Victory.

Anthony started his CFL career in 1994. On Oct.10th, 2012, in his 18th season, Anthony became the All Time Leader in Passing Yards surpassing Damon Allen, Dan Marino, Warren Moon (another CFL alumni) & Brett Favre. Anthony has now passed for 73,412 yards & 418 TD passes and is still actively adding to these totals. Anthony also currently leads the All Time professional football QB rating list. Included in his many accomplishments are three Grey Cup victories (Canadian Super Bowl) and three CFL Most Outstanding Player Awards. Since 1998 he has played for the Montreal Alouettes which is now his adopted hometown. Anthony lives in Montreal with his wife and two children.

The Redondo Beach Cafe 1511 S. Pacific Coast Highway, 90277 is owned by the brothers Chris & Kosta Tsangaris who are originally from Montreal and opened the Cafe in 2007. Chris played Middle Linebacker for Coach George Allen at Long Beach State and subsequently played in the CFL (including games against Anthony) from 1992-97. The Cafe shows all CFL games & serves many dishes that are unique to Montreal including Poutine & Smoked Meat.
